Philosophy of Education
It is my belief every person deserves an opportunity to improve their lives by
receiving a superlative education. Regardless of Language, race, gender,
exceptionality, and socioeconomic status, every student should be facilitated by
the best teachers, curriculum, and technical resources. I see every student as
individual destined for great things. The only two elements that separate
students who are excelling in the classroom and those who are not are the
experiences and exposure that he or she encounters. My decision to become an
educator was to provide experiences and exposure that would help my students to
achieve their goals.
I am catalyst for change so I promote growth and development by creating
a climate for learning. My teaching styles are diversified with several methods
and theories to meet any and every child's needs. Using the Common Core State Standards.
I can encourage students to use relational learning approach.
I want my students to build a relationship with math and reading strategies so I
teach the skills with their multiple uses or purpose. Research shows, students who
learn skills relationally are more successful at math than students who learn skills
instrumentally. I challenge my students to be creative by offering choices, engaging students in
student-centered activities and introducing several strategies to
troubleshooting.
Teaching is a highly rewarding profession, in which one can have a direct
effect on others. I cannot imagine a better way to contribute to improving
society. During my college training, my instructors at Miles College have
inspired me to use effective teaching practices to motivate my students. I found
these practices embedded in Miles College conceptual framework. I have
incorporated Miles College conceptual framework into my philosophy. The
conceptual framework is the following: acquire knowledge, create climate for
learning, initiate meaningful activities, and provide encouragement.
